On finding space for joy, science, and a little bit of balance

Back in May, my mission was to define the spring term as ‘the summer of Kim’.
Thirteen weeks of prioritizing health: my own, my family’s, my dogs’.
I welcomed a new puppy, and celebrated my senior dog’s 14th birthday in good health.
I put B’s wellbeing before performance, and I started reclaiming pieces of my own.

It was also a summer of words.
I wrote because I wanted to, and I let CIM breathe again.
Ten sport science posts later, I’m grateful for the words that found their way out.
Still, like any scientist, I wonder about their reach, their relevance, their impact.

But what mattered more was remembering why I love sport, and why I love science.
The fall term is fast approaching. It’s always a harder session.
The question now is —
can I protect the space I carved out for what matters most?

Epilogue:
I hope CIM keeps growing alongside me.
Inviting new voices, tackling fresh evidence,
and always, finding the joy in sport and science. 💛🐾

The Win Within
